Brazil produces around one-third of all coffee, making it by far the world’s largest producer – a position the country has held for over 150 years.
In 2010, it accounted for 36.14% of all global production, according to data provided by the International Coffee Organization. In 2012, Brazil produced more than 50 million coffee sacks, for a total of 3 million tons.
The plantations, which cover about 27,000 km², are mainly located in the southern and southeastern Brazil Federal States: Minas Gerais, São Paulo, and Paraná. Here, the position and climate are ideal for coffee cultivation.
